Join YPN for the first installment of 2010 Lunch and Learn series.
When stakes are high, opinions vary, and emotions start to run strong, casual conversations become crucial. Ironically, the more crucial the conversation, the less likely we are to handle it well. The consequences of either avoiding or fouling up crucial conversations can be severe. When we fail a crucial conversation, every aspect of our lives can be affected-from our careers, to our communities, to our relationships, to our personal health.
What is this all-important skill-set? What do people who sail through crucial conversations actually do? More importantly, can we do it too? If you want to learn the answers to these very important questions, join us on March 23rd for our Crucial Conversations Lunch & Learn.
As we learn how to step up to crucial conversations-and handle them well-with one set of skills we can influence virtually every domain of our lives. Join Chris McAdam, Assistant Medical Group Administrator over Specialty Care SRO Kaiser and Dr. Fatemeh Bani-Tabi, Healthcare Ombudsman Mediator for Kaiser as they discuss how to be successful in crucial conversations. Chris has a BS in Physical Therapy and a Master's in Health Services Administration. He is a cyclist, marathoner, mountain climber and volunteer for Wheels For Humanity which delivers wheelchairs to developing countries. In her role at Kaiser, Fatemeh serves as a confidential, impartial, independent and informally designated neutral. Charged with providing services to assist in the resolution of healthcare concerns, she is an advocate for fair processes simultaneously for the patient, providers, staff and organizations. He goals are to improve patient safety, enhance staff and patient satisfaction and create an informal feedback loop that identifies and fosters systemic improvements. She holds a BA in Industrial/Organizational Psychology, as well as a Masters/Doctor of Psychology degree in Clinical Psychology.
Cost: $15, lunch included.
